Clean Up Australia Day
Chapman Valley Horse Riding invites you to help us clean up our roadside this Clean Up Australia Day!
Start Time: 9AM
End Time: 12PM
Address : 7054 Putty Road, Howes Valley
Please BYO lunch. Drinks will be available on the day, free of charge.
Each participant will receive a free voucher for a 2 hour horse ride. If booked in advance, this may be used in the afternoon of the clean up day – however there are only 6 spots available in each ride so you’ll need to book in fast!
Why are we cleaning up the roadside?
Did you know that cattle and horses absolutely love to chew on aluminum cans? They chew and chew until the can becomes completely flattened out! This often results in cuts inside their mouth, and pieces of the aluminum breaking off and becoming lodged in their throat – frequently causing death. In addition to the cans, plastic bags and chip packets blow in from the roadside and also make a nice chew-toy for them (they think so anyway!). Then there is also the obvious danger of broken glass from bottles, which cut open hooves when the unsuspecting cow or horse steps on them.
What do I wear/bring?
BYO lunch and snacks – we will supply soft drink and waters on the day. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen!
Here’s what you’ll need to wear. This is REALLY important, and those not wearing what’s listed below will not be allowed to participate (due to health and safety reasons)
- Long pants
- Solid enclosed shoes – preferably boots
- Long sleeve shirt
- Hat
Can kids participate?
All ages are welcome, however participants under 16 years will not be permitted to clean along the roadside – but will be able to stay inside the boundary fence and pickup anything that has blown into the paddocks.
