Camping Rules at Chapman Valley
The Chapman family kindly opens their property to campers who are seeking a quiet weekend away in the Australian bush. We ask all visitors to do their part to ensure that we don’t ‘love the bush to death’ but rather learn to respect and understand its opportunities and constraints.
Please respect the family property by following these guidelines.
“Take only photographs – leave only footprints.”
Campsite:
• Wear enclosed footwear, preferably hiking boots – especially if bushwalking – to help prevent injuries from sticks, rocks and of course snake and spider bites!
• Please respect your neighboring campers and ensure music is turned off, or at least down low by 10pm. Although the bush campsites are very private, loud music can travel many kilometers at night.
Toilets:
• Use toilets where provided.
• If using your own toilet, please ensure you take all waste with you.

Exploring the Property (Mountain Bikes, 4WDing):
• Guests are welcome to explore the property on foot, horseback, Mountain Bike or 4WD. Please read and follow all signs and information provided by Chapman Valley.
• All vehicles must be Registered and have Comprehensive Car Insurance.
• Use only defined roads and tracks as off-road driving may lead to tyre punctures, getting lost, bogged, hurt or stranded.
•Be sensible when travelling around the property and abide by all road safety laws while on the property. Each passenger of vehicles must be seated with a seat belt. Riding on roof racks, bullbars, in the back of vehicles, standing on side rails etc are very dangerous activities and can cause injury or death.
• All pushbike riders must wear an Australian Standards approved helmet at all times.
• Drive slowly around wildlife and cattle.
• REMEMBER – We use these tracks for Horse rides, so please drive slowly and BEWARE OF HORSES especially on corners.
Rubbish:
• Take all rubbish with you. If you carry it in – carry it out! Bring plenty of rubbish bags for this purpose.
• Do not bury rubbish as animals will dig it up.
• Do us a favour and pick up other people’s rubbish if you find it. Thank you.

Fire:
• Firewood is not permitted to be collected from the property. You can bring your own, or purchase firewood from us.
• Please do not put glass in the fire! Once you head home, our friendly cattle like to examine the coals, and often cut themselves if bottles and other glass have been thrown in.
• Be sure your fire is extinguished before departure –use water, not dirt! Check it several times – to be absolutely sure. If a fireplace is still warm, it is NOT out. Fines apply if campfire is left unattended throughout your stay or smouldering after you leave.
• Be aware of total fire ban days. (Ask us!) During a Total Fire Ban, you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or carry out any activity in the open that causes, or are likely to cause a fire.
If in doubt, don’t light it. Save yourself the fines and the embarrassment;
Lighting a fire on a day of Total Fire Ban attracts an on the spot fine of $2,200. If the matter goes to court, you could be fined up to $5500 and/or 12 months gaol.
Penalties for a fire that escapes and damages or destroys life, property or the environment can attract much greater fines and gaol terms with maximums at $132,000 and/or 14 years gaol.

Hopefully you’ve got the gist, but incase you haven’t … waste (rubbish and toilet waste) left behind can be harmful to wildlife and farm animals, and is just plain gross for the person visiting after you. Damage to property such as driving on closed roads, circle work in campsites and moving items around is not only rude but makes us want to shut up shop and refuse any campers. Visitors found to have caused damaged to the property, including but not limited to rubbish/toilet waste left behind, damage to equipment or damage to campgrounds and property will be charged an additional fee to their credit card of an amount deemed fair and reasonable by Chapman Valley to compensate cleaning costs, repair of property and/or loss of income from damaged property.
