How To Find Us
The Chapman Valley property is very easy to find! Much of your journey will be a scenic drive weaving between the beautiful Yengo and Wollemi National Parks.
Prepare for your trip by reading the travel guides below. GPS systems and maps can get a bit confused in the mountains, so be sure to screenshot or print the instructions below to ensure a stress-free trip!
The above map is live, and shows how long it would take you to get here at the time you’re looking at this map – so if you’re looking at this webpage in peak hour, take this into account!
Generally it takes 2 hours from Sydney with good traffic and without stopping for breaks.
Travelling From Sydney
Do not head directly north on the Pacific Motorway towards Newcastle – it will take an extra 1.5 hours! (Sometimes GPS systems will tell you to go this way, towards Newcastle)
The Directions from Sydney will vary slightly depending on the suburb you’re travelling from. The following directions start at Central (Train) Station and travel north-west via Windsor and the Putty Road. If you can find your way to Windsor from your Suburb, you can then follow our directions as below.
Directions from Central Station:
Travel West on ‘Broadway’ until it becomes Parramatta Rd. Continue for 19km and turn right onto James Ruse Drive and follow this for 35km without turning off (the road will change into Briens Rd, then Old Windsor Rd then Windsor Rd, but you don’t need to do anything). You will then arrive in Windsor and come to a roundabout- go straight ahead. You are now on Wilberforce Rd, which will shortly become the Putty Road. Now all you have to do is drive 102kms to our address (we suggest you set your odometer now to keep track of how far you’ve got left to go). No turnoffs, no traffic lights, no roundabouts – just sit back and enjoy the scenery. We’re on the left, look for the big white signs!
Note: We find that the GPS systems will often tell you to stop at our neighbour’s property. Be sure to keep looking for the white signs that say Chapman Valley.
Things to know:
- You will lose Mobile coverage shortly after Wilberforce, and last Fuel is at Colo Heights (75kms before you reach us)
- The addresses on the side of the road refer to the distance from the nearest town. E.g ‘7054 Putty Road’ means we are 70.54kms from Singleton. However, the Putty Rd starts at ‘0’ at both ends, Wilberforce (South) and Singleton (North). This means when travelling from Sydney you may see the roadside numbers go 6000, 7000, 8000 – don’t worry you haven’t passed us! Keep driving until you’ve passed the Grey Gum Cafe and the numbers start going down again! 8000, 7000, 6000 … etc. We are number 7054, on the left hand side.
Travelling From Hunter Valley
Directions
From the Hunter Valley Gardens, head West on Broke Road. Follow it until the end (approx 20kms). You are now in Broke. Turn right at the T intersection. There is a shop on your right – this is the last food and fuel until you reach us.
Turn left onto Milbrodale road 50meters after the Broke shop. Follow this (13kms) until the end. At this T intersection turn left onto the Putty Road. Now all you have to do is drive 45kms to our address (we suggest you set your odometer now to keep track of how far you’ve got left to go). No turnoffs, no traffic lights, no roundabouts -and we are on the right. Look for the big white signs!
If travelling from Cessnock, add the following to the start of your trip:
From Cessnock take Allandale rd, which will then turn into Wine Country Drive. Follow this for 6.7kms until you see Broke Road on your left (Peterson’s House will be near the turnoff). Follow Broke Rd until the end, then turn left (onto McDonald’s rd) then right immediately after. This is Broke rd continued and the Hunter Valley Gardens are on your left.
Things to know:
- You’ll lose Mobile coverage at Milbrodale Rd/Putty Rd intersection – 45kms before you reach us.
- The roadside numbers indicate how far you are from the nearest town (Singleton). E.g ‘7054 Putty Rd’ means we’re 70.54kms from Singleton. So if you see the roadside numbers reading in the 5000s or 6000s – keep going!

Travelling From Newcastle
Directions
From Newcastle (Train) Station, follow Hunter Street for approximately 3kms, and turn left onto Selma St, and right immediately onto Donald St. Continue on this road, it will then become Newcastle Rd. Follow this road straight ahead for 7.6kms, then turn left at the Roundabout onto Thomas Street. This will soon become the Newcastle Link Road, continue straight ahead through all roundabouts. This road will then become the M15 – Hunter Expressway. Continue on the Expressway until it ends (about 40kms) and becomes the New England Highway – continue on for another 8.5kms. Turn left onto the Golden Highway, towards Dubbo (don’t worry we’re not going that far!) and follow this to the end (about 8.5kms), turn left at the T intersection onto the Putty Road.
Now all you have to do is drive 64kms to our address (we suggest you set your odometer now to keep track of how far you’ve got left to go). No turnoffs, no traffic lights, no roundabouts – just keep driving and enjoy the scenery! Keep an eye out for the big white signs, and we’re on the right hand side of the road!
Things to know:
- You’ll lose Mobile coverage at Milbrodale – 45kms before you reach us.
- The roadside numbers indicate how far you are from the nearest town (Singleton). E.g ‘7054 Putty Rd’ means we’re 70.54kms from Singleton. So if you see the roadside numbers reading in the 5000s or 6000s – keep going!
What others are saying
Chapman's has been hands down the best trail riding experience that I've had in Australia, it is so worth the trip and realistically is not that far from either Sydney, Central Coast or Newcastle.
We wanted something that would give us the freedom to trot, canter, and really enjoy the Australian landscape on well-cared-for horses. Chapman Valley delivered that and so much more!
Not a typical nose-to-butt trail ride. Chapman valley horse riding was one of the best horse riding experiences I’ve had to date.
The horses are so well cared for, the saddles are good quality and comfortable, the staff and guides are lovely (and organised) and the food is great.
What sets Chapman Valley apart is the staff - they are absolutely wonderful! So friendly and welcoming, you get the feeling you're staying with family
These guys are fanatical about horse welfare and guest safety, the guides are helpful but never intrusive and cater for all levels of riders.
We had such a great time on the 3-day cattle muster. The accommodation was beautiful, guides we very friendly and accommodating, horses very well cared for.
I have never seen the Milky Way so clearly other than being in the middle of ocean. Do it!
A very nice quiet stay in a beautiful surroundings. Nice flat and grassy camp site and very friendly staff.
Amazing location and experience. No reception is GREAT. Ideal getaway. Lovely team and family run business.
Our family enjoyed horse riding, marshmallow roasting, taking in the wildlife and cows roaming, slowing down and 4WDing on the tracks.
I did the 3 day cattle muster and loved it! They take you all over the property and you get to ride and find cattle on all sorts of terrain.
The campsites were well-maintained and offered plenty of privacy. I loved hiking the nearby trails and enjoying the peace of nature.
Magical scenery, walking tracks, some 4wd tracks all of which are all marked out and easy to follow
